- Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ's) -
Q.
Why are your Pashmina shawls and scarfs that expensive?
A.
You might have seen "pashmina" shawls and scarfs for lower prices. Unfortunately, the name pashmina is not protected and is being used for scarfs and shawls made of man-made fabrics like viscose or polyester or made of normal (sheep) wool. The cheaper "pashmina" shawls you might have seen will definitely not have been made of genuine Cashmere, whereas the Siebel Pashmina shawls and scarfs are made from the finest Cashmere wool (combined with Chinese silk). One clearly can see, feel and notice the big differences between genuine Pashmina shawls and "pashmina" shawls made of viscose, cotton or normal wool. See also What is Pashmina?
Q.
Why are your Pashmina shawls and scarfs that inexpensive?
A.
You might have seen genuine Pashmina shawls and scarfs for much higher prices. We can offer our Pashmina shawls and scarfs for lower prices because we buy directly from the factory and skipp middlemen and shops.
Q.
What is the difference between Pashmina and Cashmere?
A.
Pashmina wool is nothing but a sheer Cashmere wool obtained from the chest of the goat, from the part where you can find the silkiest, the thinnest, and the longest hair (i.e the most beautiful ones). Consequently, the Pashmina wool is the sheerest part of a piece of Cashmere wool. Most people believe that a 'pashmina' is a shawl very thinly woven, like an open weave. There is a confusion between the accessory (shawl) and the fabric (the Pashmina). The name 'Pashmina' is not an official trade mark in Europe (unlike Cashmere wool). The consequence is that you can find 'pashminas' made from either sheep wool, cotton or man-made fibres like viscose. Siebel Pashminas sells only Pashminas (i.e shawls and Scarfs) made with 100% Pashmina wool (i.e the 'original' Pashmina shawl made of 100% finest Cashmere wool) or a mix of Pashmina wool and silk (70% of finest Cashmere wool and 30% silk) See also What is Pashmina?
Q.
Which
Pashmina qualities do you offer?
A.
We
offer 70% Pashmina and 30% Silk Shawls and Scarfs.
We also offer 100% Pashmina Shawls and Scarfs.
Q.
Is 100% Pashmina better than 70% Pashmina?
A.
No not necessarily, 30% silk makes the fabric more durable and shiny. Most Pashmina shawls being sold by us are made from 70% Cashmere and 30% silk. Cashmere and silk represent two colliding opposites: cashmere is not shiny, feels warm, is soft and has 'tiny curls' in fabric structure. Cashmere is very fine wool and therefore preserves characteristics of animal hair. Silk is characterized by natural shine, it is soft to the touch and suitable for manufacture of 'cold' summer Scarfs. It is this combination of two opposites that yields a special fabric – a typical material for Pashmina shawls.
Although our 70% Pashmina/30% silk blend shawls and scarfs are stronger and shinier than our 100% Pashmina shawls and scarfs, we still offer the 100% Pashminas.
